Choosing a Care Provider for Childbirth

Theres a lot to consider while planning your birth. Most of the time, folks get caught up in researching the best crib and stroller. While we love the cute gear that comes with the baby, Mary Esther and I find our clients forgetting about the birth itself. Who should you hire to help you along the way? Assembling your birth support team can make a huge difference in feeling satisfied, taken care of and safe during your pregnancy and the birth itself. There’s no one way to do it, the key is to figure out whats most important for you and your family and then take it from there. Check out this video to get some tips on making the choice.

Timing Contractions - When To Go To Birth Center or Hospital

How many times have you heard a birth story that included “We went in too soon!” or “The hospital sent us home!” or “They made me walk around the block…..for hours.” As doulas and childbirth educators, Mary Esther Malloy and I prepare our clients to avoid the dreaded “Go home, its too early” response from the hospital or birthing center. Our 8-week Mindful Birth class prepares you to stay home as long as possible and to know when labor is active. Active labor is when your care provider wants to see you, all labor before that means “Stay home.” Mary Esther and I made this short video to help you too. Check it out and please reach out with questions.
